Dr. Peter Hanappe studied electronic engineering at the University of Ghent, Belgium. He worked on real-time audio and music composition systems at Ircam (Centre George Pompidou, Paris). When a researcher at Sony Computer Science Laboratory in Paris he first worked on computer-mediated social interaction for content creation. He then focused on sustainability. He was one of he founders of the NoiseTube project, a participative monitoring system for urban noise. In 2007, he worked together with the University of Oxford and the U.K. Met Office to use game consoles for large-scale climate modelling in In 2012, he founded P2P Food Lab, a platform to explore small-scale agriculture and that combines sensor networks with social networking.
