openhere addresses a variety of social and technical issues as they relate to questions of ‘openness’ and the commons. Sometimes we get so engrossed in these core issues we forget that a range of technical and/or theoretical literacies may be required to engage in this discourse.
This is especially true when attempting to bring together a community of practitioners from different orientations and backgrounds.
During openhere we will therefore be offering tutorial sessions on a variety of topics. These are designed to provide any interested participant with a primer/overview on a particular subject that is close to the issues put forward during the openhere festival. These will be available on an ad hoc basis – anybody can request a tutorial on one of the openhere topics. You will subsequently be paired up with an expert in the field for a conversation.
Available tutorials include:
How Does a Network Work?
Open Standards and Protocols 101
An Introduction to Open Source Licensing: (GNU, Creative Commons, Copyleft)
A Spectrum Primer
What We Talk about when We Talk about the Digital Commons
An Introduction to The Network Economy
To request a tutorial or for further information email info@openhere.data.ie with ‘ad hoc tutorial’ in the subject line.
